NuCentz: What age did you realize you wanted to pursue a career in the music industry and what artist sparked the interest?
82 Fresh: I’ve been into music for my entire life. In early elementary school, my dad passed his record collection down to me, and I began to buy records myself adding to it for years. I played instruments all throughout school and studied music. Everyone always knew that’s what I would pursue.
NuCentz: Where does the laid back old school type of feel come from in your lyrics and beat selections?
82 Fresh: I used to be a really hyper and rowdy kid but as I get older, I’m more relaxed. Whenever I have down time from working I’m cooling out with friends, and kicking it. My music is a direct reflection of the life I live, have lived and things I’ve seen.
NuCentz: On top of being a Producer, Writer and Artist what other titles are on the resume or will be added to it?
82 Fresh: Business Owner, Finance Guru, Master Barber, Father and Husband
NuCentz: Let us into your musical mentals, what songs are programmed in your I-Pod or phone?
82 Fresh: My I-Pod has everything from all genres except for country western. I listen to everything from Renaissance era Jazz, R&B, Soul, Funk, Classic Hip-Hop all the way up to the new songs that are released weekly on the most popular blogs. I’m an old soul that stays up to date.
NuCentz: What are your latest projects and where can music your music be listened to and purchased?
82 Fresh: My latest project is called “Prerequisite To Power” which was released to the internet on 3/13/12. I’ve had a few thousand downloads from my website without even promoting it much. Mostly from my Twitter & Facebook following. My next project will be an R&B EP called “Songs About Love” then, I’ll follow up with the next installment of the “Power” series.
NuCentz: What is the language and meaning of “DIEU ET MON DROIT” found on the cover of newest album?
82 Fresh: The title of the mixtape is actually called “Prerequisite To Power” however, the cover is a model of the British Coat Of Arms. On it “DIEU ET MON DROIT” is engraved which is French for “My Divine Right”. I looked at the power structure of the classic British Dynasties and it inspired me to use it to set off the power series. The theme is to be regal and live like royalty, regardless of your upbringing, background or whatnot.
Wow! As you can see this artist definitely has a Fresh outlook on the future and his storytelling abilities will vividly paint a portrait of the warm days which can quickly turn into cold, blustery evenings in the “D”.
